IF NOT FOR COVID-19
If it was not for the COVID-19 Pandemic, almost all of us, would not have set foot in some of Port Moresby’s luxurious hotels.
While we passed these Hotels on our way somewhere and wondered how the rooms would be like, we never for once, considered the view we would wakeup to the next morning. It is simply breath-taking, considering the change in elevation and its impact on our perspective of the surroundings below us.
The very same surroundings we take for granted.
SUN-RISE
Sun-rise we took for granted everyday became a new experience.
We stood and observed from our Hotel rooms with an overwhelming feeling of reverence for the onset of a new day,

SUN-SET
Even the sun setting was a new experience.
Watched in awe as it would descend majestically beyond the horizon, lighting up the city with an array of evening colours.
THE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
ON THE PLUS (+) SIDE OF THINGS
Undoubtedly, the COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed havoc in all countries in the world, including Papua New Guinea. However, it also brought blessings in different forms to other aspects of our lives.
New Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) were born. Even exiting ones learnt new ways to progress their businesses during pandemic times.
As we worked harder in the midst of the pandemic, we also learnt to work smarter with whatever little resources we had available to us as a result of the impact COVID-19 had on man-power in the different industries we work in.
Even some schools upgraded their online learning to some extent.
THE NEW NORMAL
Leaders in the various industries we work in stood up and led us with newer visions and newer directions as a result of the new normal.
QUARANTINE
Quarantine may be a byproduct of the impact of COVID-19, but it is more a measure to ensure that we are healthier and fitter to perform our jobs whilst at work. It would also be reminiscent of me to thank Ok Tedi Mining Ltd for its duty of care towards its employees and contractors.
To ensure that its people undergo quarantine before they resume work after completing a negative COVID-19 test is commitment we are truly appreciative of. Thank you Ok Tedi Mining Limited.
PRIVILEGES OF QUARANTINE
10 days in Quarantine has its privileges. Free Wifi, Meals delivered to you, cable TV but more importantly, the rest, in a peaceful and quiet setting.
The Hotels we have resided in have done well. And I must say, we are grateful for their hospitality.
It is without a doubt that the views we wake up to whilst in Quarantine in these hotels are soul-captivating, mind-elevating but more so, stress-busting.
Thank you Grand Papua Hotel, thank you Hilton Hotel, thank you Ela Beach Hotel and thank you Holiday Inn for these breath-taking views during our sleep-overs.
