This exact view, minus the city’s few skyscrapers in the background was also enjoyed by the first misi-tauna William Lawes and his wife, Tamate and his wife, and Ruatoka and the rest of the Southsea Islanders nearly a 120 years ago, when they too stood on this exact spot to survey their “flock” and how best to go about rounding them in into the fold. It was also on this exact spot where the Annexation Papers were signed by Commodore Esrskines in 1884.

“BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN”

What do the abbreviations JOSCANE refer to?

JOSCANE refers to the abbreviations of the biblical names Joshua, Caleb and Nehemiah. PATHFINDERS refer to setting a new pathway to support the “building” of the UNITED CHURCH in Papua New Guinea in the 21st century.

The only two in their generation to enter Canaan

“Joshua and Caleb were true warriors, who believed in God’s promise of the “Promise Land.” Besides their faith in God, they had a PLAN on how to defeat the giants who occupied the land God had promised them.

Their faith and plan of action made them confident of victory in battle.

Unfortunately it was not to be.

But the both of them were the only two in their generation to enter the Land they believed in conquering first up.

Exploring Canaan

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel...

Nehemiah sent to Judah

Nehemiah 2:5. And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.”

“Joshua’s and Caleb’s battle victories in the Promised Land shows that they were great planners who planned through their unbreakable faith in GOD”

Nehemiah, the Biblical Project Manager

Nehemiah was the biblical Project Manager.

He rebuilt the Walls of Jerusalem using the 10 current PMI Project Management Knowledge Areas of:

  • Project Integration Management;

  • Project Scope Management;

  • Project Schedule Management;

  • Project Cost Management;

  • Project Quality Management;

  • Project Resources Management;

  • Project Communication Management;

  • Project Risk Management;

  • Project Procurement Management;

  • Project Stakeholder Management.

Prior to commencing building, he had done NEEDS ASSESSMENT back in Persia, when he served as cup-bearer to the Persian King Artaxerxes.

Then he requested for and obtained approval from the King (Project CHARTER), where in it he convinced the King of the project’s feasibility and advantages (BUSINESS CASE, and the Project BENEFITS MANAGEMENT PLAN).

Nehemiah stands as a testament to faithfulness and perseverance.

Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days!
